about

On September 5th, 1977 NASA launched the Voyager Space Probe on its mission to explore our Solar System and beyond. Affixed to the probe was a gold-plated record entitled “The Sounds of Earth” - a compilation of field recordings, greetings in multiple languages, and
music from around the world. One of the musical pieces was a traditional Bulgarian folk song performed by Valya Balkanska.

On September 5th, 2013 - 36 years after the launch of the Voyager Probe - DRTY SHDWS PRJKT launch our 2nd release... Bulgarian duo, Big Tiger’s “Music From Planet Earth”, which will be followed by a remix ep and cassette release later this year.

Conceptually, like its golden predecessor, this recording is a message to potential life on other worlds, but it is mostly a message to the people of Earth...

“It’s a celebration of the power and love that the Earth is always giving us. People have been looking for this in the stars, but it’s right beneath their feet. This is where our inspiration comes from - real things like nature and the human experience, which have an endless depth and beautiful mystery of their own” - Big Tiger
